Johann van Eck has been conducting classes on Wills & Estates and Legal Practitioners’ Accounting since 2003 to assist candidate legal practitioners with the competency-based examination.
He is also appointed by the Legal Practice Council as an examiner (written / oral) and moderator for both examinations.

Why online?
The reason for virtual classes
Until recently, on-site classes were presented bi-annually in Johannesburg, Pretoria and Cape Town. With the practical challenges surrounding COVID-19 and increasing demand from candidate legal practitioners outside these main centres, the logical next step was to expand these classes to virtual classes.
Visit the contact page if you are interested in attending either virtual or physical classes ahead of an upcoming Legal Practitioner’s Competency based examination.

The benefits of virtual classes
Classes can be attended from the comfort and safety of your home.

You have a front row seat. The work will be displayed on your screen, via whiteboards or slides, while the lecture continues.

No need to travel to the venue and back home.

No need to take leave as all sessions are after office hours and over weekends.

No need to pay for accommodation if you live outside the three main centres or even outside RSA.

Ample opportunities to ask questions via the group chat.

The class is conducted by two lecturers and participation is strongly encouraged.

What you need:
You must be able to attend online, as the classes are not recorded.
A laptop. Work will be presented on white boards, so a larger screen is preferred.
Ensure you have a stable internet connection that enables you to stream live video.
Ensure to have a power supply as a back-up or alternative venue should load shedding occur.
